“Fondly, do we hope – fervently do we pray – that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away.”- Abraham Lincoln.
In his second inaugural address, President Lincoln addressed the “mighty scourge” of the civil war. The bloodshed spread from the battlefields of our farmlands to small rural communities. Hundreds of thousands were robbed of children. Those shackled by men’s greed and the ignorance of a blinded culture prayed and yearned to be free. They wanted nothing more than to be equal in their pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
Historical revisionists will color the lens of our past with false narratives, but slavery was the sole cause of the Civil War. The judgment for the sins of our nation was a conflict that tore us apart. Brothers slaughtered each other to rightfully grant the enslaved their God-given freedoms. Have we learned from our past? The parallels between our time and the pre-civil war era provoke caution and grave concern.
Today our children are slaughtered and denied their God-given right to life. As a culture, we have been shackled by corporate greed and moral ignorance. In 58 years, the blood of nearly 57 million American babies has been spilled. Can we truly believe that there will be no judgment for this wickedness? As the injustice of slavery was made right after centuries of “unrequited toil,” I the day will soon come when the blood of the innocent will no longer be poured out. It’s foolish to think one politician can make right what a nation has refused to deem as wicked. It will take every vote and every voice to rise and declare, “End Abortion in America.”
A few days ago, a good friend asked me what issues or principles guide my vote. I’m a one-issue voter. I’m pro-life. The scriptures tell us that the shedding of innocent blood is a cause of societal decline. If we repent and turn from this great wickedness of abortion in our land, then and only then can we see healing in our nation.
Why is the bloodshed of the innocent of great concern to God?
1. The shedding of innocent blood leads to the oppression of the enemy. (Jeremiah 22:1-9)
2. The shedding of innocent blood is a result of forsaking His ways. (Jeremiah 19:4)
3. The shedding of innocent blood causes His blessings to be removed from a nation. (Jeremiah 7:1-7)
4. The shedding of innocent blood is a sin that will separate a nation from Him. (Isaiah 59:1-8)
5. The shedding of innocent blood is number three of the seven things He hates. (Proverbs 6:16-17)
6. We should not consent to the shedding of innocent blood. (Proverbs 1:10-15)
7. We are directly told not to turn a blind eye to the shedding of innocent blood. (Isaiah 59)
You may ask, ”Isn’t racism a cultural crisis?” Yes, it is. However, of the babies slaughtered under the blade of planned parenthood, a black baby is five times more likely to be aborted than his or her white counterpart. Who kills the most Black, Hispanic, and minority children? Planned Parenthood! They are parked in minority neighborhoods with great intent to slaughter our children. The best way to stop the murder of our minorities is to stop government-funded abortions. (https://abort73.com/abortion/abortion_and_race/)
You may ask, “Aren’t economic and fiscal policies a concern as you vote?” The truth is that all wealth comes from honoring God’s commands. If we succeed in preserving the innocent, we’ll have no fear of financial upheaval. The contrary, however, is the reality we are experiencing.
”What about universal healthcare,” you may ask. How can we presume to offer health to a few as we murder so many? Abortion has terminated the lives of 57 million babies since Roe v. Wade! Fifty-seven million. To put this into a horrendous perspective, consider this:
Adolf Hitler murdered 17 million people. Joseph Stalin slaughtered about 23 million people. America has surpassed the combined murder count of these deplorable lunatics with a wicked 57 million, all in the name of ”providing healthcare.” How could any politician who endorses such bloodshed be moral enough to legislate on behalf of our nation’s healthcare?
This is why the pro-life position will get my vote every time at the ballot box.
