Freedom and the Fight Between Two Women

I became a citizen of the United States in the Fall of 2004. On the journey to citizenship, I found myself immersed in the writings of the founding fathers. Contrary to the narrative of cancel culture, I read of men who made great sacrifice for the cause of liberty. In their “Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking up Arms,” Thomas Jefferson and John Dickinson wrote of their devotion to pursuing freedom. They wrote,

“We have counted the cost of this contest and find nothing so dreadful as voluntary slavery. Honor, justice, and humanity forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we have received from our gallant ancestors… We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage upon them… [We are] with one mind resolved to die freemen rather than to live slaves.”

As it gained approval from the Continental Congress in 1775, this declaration swelled to be the surge of Revolution we celebrate today. This resolve and hope of the founding fathers has traveled through generations and beckons us today to cast off the tyranny of evil men and women who intend to capture an emerging generation. Though the enemies of 1776 were clothed in red and painfully obvious, the enemies of liberty live hidden among us. They are ancient captors, well known by free men and women in every generation. The cruel oppressors of pride, lust, and sensuality are relentless in their zeal to enslave the minds of every gullible soul.

I recently read an article about the laissez-faire approach of YouTube Kids in exposing children to pornography. Make no mistake, the liberalized, or should we say, demonically-chained, slaves of this “woke” culture are intent on capturing our children with their perversion. Now more than ever, the battle wages to keep our children undefiled and free. Freedom is not a right to do whatever you want to do. Freedom is the cause that drives a reasonable mind to cast off the usurpations of wicked men and women who desire to enslave masses with their deceptions. Who are the oppressors of our day? Those who traverse numerous platforms and airwaves to dump their broken and sin-affirming propaganda into our homes.

The caution to reject sin’s enslaving power are echoed in the ancient writings of King David to his son, Solomon. David, with the contrast of a wise and foolish woman, gives insight to our nation’s crisis. The foolish woman, with her seduction, offers the sweetness of stolen waters and bread eaten in secret. She will always present momentary pleasures without disclosing the price tag of generational captivity. David warns how this foolish woman is boisterous and loud, excessive in opinion-giving, and offers every simple-minded man pleasures that will prove fatal. Sound like someone you know? Then run! Run to the woman of wisdom. David charges us to find wisdom, to search for her with fervor. Finding and receiving from her is not a task of impossibility, but it is not for the faint of heart. The treasures of her wisdom do not wait for the entitled or emotionally gullible. She requires that you “forsake foolishness” and walk in the “way of understanding.” Her path is a choice to fear God and gain knowledge of the Holy One (Jesus). (Proverbs 9).

As you celebrate your freedom today, remember the battle will continue tomorrow. The foolish and the wise woman are calling out for followers. Listen to King David’s instructions. He writes, “Keep my commands and live, and my law as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call understanding your nearest kin, that they may keep you from the immoral woman, from the seductress who flatters with her words.” (Proverbs 7:2-5)
